Well after lots and lots of delays, we finally made it to Delhi...why did we come here again? It is such a chaotic city and the smog is terrible. Our flight from Chicago, we sat on the tarmac, AGAIN for 4 hours as we got de-iced over and over. The weather was terrible. So our 13 1/2 hour flight turned into 17 1/2 hours and when we arrived in Delhi it was 3 a.m. Talk about some time mix up. We got a few hours of sleep in a hotel and then got up earlier to make the drive to Agra. The normally 3-4 hour drive ended up taking 7 as we had to detour around a strike on the main highway. The detour was on bumpy gravel roads. It is never a good sign when your driver yells out the window every 5km asking "which way to Agra". I am guessing that is what he was saying, the only thing I could understand was Agra and then people waving their hands to continue down the road. Olivia got very car sick and threw up all over Doug in the van-terrible. We just kept shaking our heads...what are we doing? But finally made it to Agra and the Taj Mahal yesterday and it all seemed worth it. It is just so stunningly beautiful and so hard to believe it is this completely serene place in the middle of all of the madness. We watched a really entertaining puppet show and then got to bed. The jet lag has hit us..we are up at 3am, wide awake. We are travelling by car again today (shh..don't tell Olivia) to Ranthambore to stay in a wildlife preserve and go on safari looking for tigers. The drive should only take 4-5 hours...I'm not buying any of that!

Poor Livvi! Sounds just awful for her. Dalton ended up feeling better after just one day of it, but Alyssa got sick then Wednesday night. She didn't get it as bad and played most of the day Thursday, I guess. She was tired last night when I got home, though. Everyone is back to school/work today.
ReplyDeleteYou're sure not missing anything here. The 12+ inches of snow and below 0 temps are getting old really fast! Kids are a bit stir crazy too with 3 days off from school.
Well, I hope your delays are over and you can start relaxing and enjoying the wonderful sights. Can't wait to see pics as you go along. You guys all take care.

That sickness was short lived but pretty intense! Just the non stop puking, I felt so bad for her. Glad you guys got over it just as quickly! I still can't believe they canceled school for 3 days, when has that ever happened?? Do you think it was 4H that got them sick? I knew I shouldn't have had that one!! HA
